Barry, is a Senior Lecturer in Cancer and Palliative Care at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen’s University Belfast. He has been working as a clinician, academic and researcher in the field of cancer and palliative care for over 35 years, in the United Kingdom and Ireland. His research interests include, leadership, spirituality, symptom management, diversity and inclusion, and advanced disease. He is the Partnership Lead for the United Kingdom Oncology Nursing Society, and chairs the UK Haemato-oncology Specialist Interest Group. He is a Consultant Editor for the UK journal, Nursing Management, and is a Senior Editor for the BMC Palliative Care journal. He is chair of the All-Ireland Institute of Hospice and Palliative Care Psychology, Social Care and Spiritualty Research Group, and is actively engaged with the Haematology Association of Ireland.
